The main objective of the Doctoral Programme in Building Engineering of the Polytechnic Univesity of Valencia is to train PhDs in the field of construction (civil engineering, building and industrial construction). The aim is to train researchers and highly qualified professionals in the following areas:
PhDs by the Polytechnic Univesity of Valencia specialised in some of the areas indicated in the objectives section. They shall be PhDs who, while they have a deep understanding in a very specific aspect of the research, they have acquired extensive training in the construction field. These professionals have used different techniques to research, innovate and transfer knowledge in the construction sector. Similarly, they have had the opportunity to stay with other national or foreign research groups that have allowed them to observe different points of view to address a problem.

The main objective of the Doctoral Programme in Building Engineering of the Polytechnic Univesity of Valencia is to train PhDs in the field of construction (civil engineering, building and industrial construction).
Application procedures and requirements.
The pre-enrolment is the process by which a candidate applies for the admission to a doctoral programme.
The requirements that the applicant must meet to be admitted are regulated by the Spanish Royal Decree 99/2011. Please note that the information shown here is just a summary. If you have any doubts, please contact the Doctorate School.
Specific information for candidates outside the EHEA.
The pre-enrolment process is completely online. If you do not have a UPV user you will have to request one as a first step of the application. At the end of the pre-enrolment process you must upload a PDF copy of the required documentation. The originals (or certified / legalized copies) will be required later, after the official enrolment is done.
The Academic Commission of the requested doctoral program will study the application and in case of needing additional information, will contact the candidate. According to the Doctoral School’s Services Charter the deadline for resolving applications (duly submitted) is 45 days.
The enrolment is annual (by academic year) and, as in any other degree, must be renewed obligatorily during all the doctoral study period.
Access requirements for new students
Bachelor degree + masters degree, with a total of 300 ECTS (minimum) and of which at least 60 ECTS must be master level.
Degree of five years (or more) of previous plans (engineer, licensee, architect, ...) with an equivalence to master degrees.
Degrees from outside the EHEA with an equivalence to master degrees (must provide a certificate issued by the university of origin stating that the degree gives access to doctoral studies in the home country).

In the event that the student comes from other Official Postgraduate Programmes or from other studies with a level of education equivalent to that of the official Spanish Master's Degree, the similarity of the acquired competences will be assessed by the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Programme with the competences foreseen in the abovementioned Master’s degrees. In these cases, the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Programme will make a report based on:
When necessary, the report will outline the need for the student to take some subjects of the Master’s degrees of the Postgraduate Programme. Likewise, the research lines of the Programme in which the doctoral student may participate will be listed. It is worth noting that, given the wide variety student profiles who request admission to the Programme, it is not possible to give general information on the possible necessary complementary training, which should be defined by the Academic Committee of the Programme in each particular case.

There are two main languages in the Programme: Spanish and English. The recommended proficiency levels for these languages, in accordance with the "Common European Framework of Reference for Languages" are C-1 for Spanish and B-1 for English.
The admission of students to the Programme shall be carried out by the Academic Committee of the Programme and shall be done with the following criteria:
